Counsellor and psychotherapist

I am Sarah Drewer and I offer counselling and psychotherapy in Ibiza and online. I believe that we all have the capacity for growth and change given the right environment. Creating that environment can start with finding a therapist you connect and feel safe with.

As individual and unique beings it makes sense to me that there is no ‘one size fits all model’ when it comes to therapy. Naturally, different people need different things at different times.

I practice pluralistic therapy, which is an integrative and collaborative approach. We can draw on a number of specialist skills and different modalities I am trained in (Person-Centred, Existential, Emotion-Focused, Creative Arts, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt) to help tailor-make something that is best suited to you, meeting you where you are.

The wonderfully dynamic process of therapy is proven to work best when it is co-created (between therapist and client) in the presence of genuine warmth, open-mindedness, listening and acceptance. These qualities are at the heart of my practice, and I will always encourage you to be an active agent in the therapeutic process. As time goes on this will help you see more clearly what might be holding you back or getting in your way and what you will need to create long-lasting change.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I am also a member of the Association for Person-Centred Creative Arts (APCCA).

Qualifying from the highly-respected Metanoia Institute, London, I have a BSc (Hons) and Diploma in Advanced Pluralistic Person-Centred Counselling (a rigorous four year in-person training) as well as a Certificate in Person-Centred Creative Arts therapy.

Born and raised in the UK, I have lived with my family up in the mountains of northern Ibiza, Spain for the last ten years. I have been on my own life-changing journey in therapy and continue to develop and feel its many benefits.

For ethical and safe practice, I am in regular supervision.

Carl Jung said that ‘often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain’. I am passionate about offering clients another instrument to help convey their emotion or experience beyond words. Sometimes our experiences are purposely scrambled away in fractals where our rational left-brain cannot put words or stories to them easily. Tapping into the creative (intuitive) right-side of the brain allows a safe, profound and often rapid passage for hidden or suppressed material that is beginning to surface. We would work with image, sandtray or other creative mediums . Being 'creative' is not in any way a requirement to work in this way.

Trauma

You may want to talk about a significant experience from your childhood or past in a safe and contained way where you can explore the impact and understand how and where it effects you and how to grow beyond it.

Depression, anxiety,
low mood, loss of interest.

Feeling any of these for prolonged periods of time can be incredibly difficult and isolating. We can explore what might be causing you to feel this way and find ways to manage depression or gain relief from anxiety or panic

Being in relationship

Maybe you want to explore challenges or patterns you may be experiencing with your partner, ex, parent, children, friends and ultimately yourself. Being able to do this away from highly charged environments can help bring awareness to blocks and unhelpful behaviours.

Maybe you’re noticing an unhealthy relationship to substances, alcohol, medication, food, shopping, sex, relationships, porn, exercise or something else. I have worked in the field of addiction for over 12 years and am a counsellor at the island’s residential rehab clinic, Ibiza Calm.

Addiction is often referred to as a ‘family disease’ and I work with family members and loved ones whose lives are also impacted by addiction.

Emotion Focus

Getting to know how to accept, express, regulate and transform emotions can
be life changing. Coming to see your emotions as powerful tools to be
embraced rather than avoided or controlled opens up a new capacity for self-healing.

This is especially important when

working with OCD, intrusive

and obsessional thoughts..

Relationship & Couples Counselling

Focusing on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and rebuilding trust, offering a safe space for clients to enhance their connections and foster emotional intimacy.

Life brings

Loss, grief, bereavement, illness, diagnosis, disability, divorce, separation.

Finding space, support and ways to process and accept life on life's terms is critical in being able to move on and grow.

Testimonials

"In the past year, Sarah has been helping me embrace my role as a new mother, rediscover my authentic self and envision a thriving future for myself and my family. She brings a holistic perspective to every session, incorporating creative outlets like drawing and sand tray work to explore deeper emotions. I value the safe and intimate space she provides, allowing me to dive into the unseen and darker parts of myself to emerge with clarity and direction for the next chapter of my life."
